Analysis of IIT-JEE 2010
IIT-JEE, the most challenging of the Engineering Entrance exams in the country and probably the world has proved that it has not lost its charm at all and has retained its glory as ever. IIT-JEE 2010 was conducted on 11th April 2010 with paper 1 from 9.00 – 12.00 hrs and paper 2 from 14.00 to 17.00 hrs. The order of subjects in both papers were the same – Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics but the total marks, the number of questions and types of questions in both papers were distinct from each other.

STRATEGY TO CRACK IIT-JEE
Start now : To take a lead you need to start as early as possible- ideally just after your Board exams are over.
How to start :It is virtually impossible for a student to figure out on his own about how to start. Which books to choose? Which topics to study first? What is important , what is not? Wherefrom to do questions? Which type of questions? The list is endless........ confusions are many. If you try to search answer to all these questions on your own, you are bound to loose at least 2-3 months with many questions unanswered or wrongly answered.
The best strategy is to search an expert/mentor , if possible an IITian to guide you. Remember, your mentor must be easily available at times when you need him.
Study Critically : While studying a topic you must :
>> know what is its importance with regard to IIT JEE >> know which chapters are pre requisite for understanding this topic >> know what are the important points in this topic you need to master >> comprehend the relationship of the current topic with those already learnt >> go through few well designed solved examples >> solve a good number of problems of all types from a good source
Again a student invariably fails to select correct material , pick up important concepts correctly and finds it very difficult to apply those them to problems. At every other step he needs an expert's help. Regular evaluation : You must under take regular tests and analyse properly to get rid of your weaknesses.
Keep yourself motivated : During long duration of preparation a student, at times, finds himself helpless and dejected- particularly when he is unable to master a concept and fails repeatedly to solve problems. During such hours you need a guru who can show you the light of the day. These things are easy said but difficult done. You need able guidance at almost every step.
AIEEE [ALL INDIA ENGINEERING ENTRANCE EXAMINATION]
Every year CBSE conducts All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) for admission into NIT's, IITs and various other good Engineering Colleges. Following prominent institute take admission through AIEEE.
>> 20 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) >> 10 new NIT's commissioned from 2010 >> National Institute of Foundary & Forge Technology, Ranchi. >> Indian Institute of Information Technology at Gwalior, Allahabad, Hyderabad & Indian Institute of Information technology, Design & manufacturing at Jabalpur, Kanchipuram. >> Army Institute of Technology, pune.
Syllabus for AIEEE : The question papers for the Examination are based on a common minimum syllabus drawn from syllabi taught in different State Boards/Central Boards.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE : Information in detail can be obtained on the website link given below :
AIEEE 2010 paper was simpler compared to 2009, for that matter was simplest amongst papers of last five years. The format of a single paper test was retained. There were 30 questions in each subject. Each section of the paper was of 144 marks means a total of 432 marks. Out of 30 questions in each section 24 questions carried 4 marks ( -1 for wrong answer ) and 6 question were of 8 marks ( -2 for wrong answer ).
Like last year in AIEEE 2010, there were a “Assertion – Reasoning “ type questions in Mathematics(5) and Physics(2) .To the delight of many students, Mathematics part was quite simple except one or two tricky questions. Quite a few questions in Mathematics were direct and formula based. Chemistry was also simple, though physics can be termed as moderately difficult.
The topic-wise breakup for each subject is given in the next page. The table also compares this years distribution with respect to last year’s to give an idea of the shift in the paper.
For less than 20,000 AIR, a candidate should score more than 220 marks out of 432 total marks.
